My basement lighting upgrade cost me a whole Saturday
I spent 6 hours last weekend swapping out the old fluorescent shop lights in my basement for LED linkable panels from Home Depot. I figured it would be a quick 2 hour job but I hit a snag when the mounting brackets didn't line up with the studs in my drop ceiling. Has anyone else run into weird mounting issues with those LED panels?

Oh man, nothing humbles you faster than a 'quick 2 hour job' turning into an epic saga lol. Mine took a whole weekend too because I forgot I had the spatial awareness of a potato and measured everything wrong. At least your basement's probably brighter than my life is now.

Dude I just watched a youtube video last week where a guy had the same exact problem with those panels lol. @roberts.leo said it best, nothing humbles you like a "quick 2 hour job." Mine ended up being a mess too, had to drill new holes in the brackets cause nothing lined up.

120 bucks worth of panels and I still ended up jury-rigging brackets with some scrap wood I had laying around. Those studs in my drop ceiling were spaced so weird compared to the mounting holes on the lights. It's frustrating when you plan everything out and still get thrown off by stuff like that.
