My garage floor went from gross oil stains to actually clean looking after using kitty litter for 2 days straight
I spread a whole bag of cheap clay litter over the stains, let it soak for 48 hours, swept it up, and then hit the spots with a degreaser and a stiff brush - has anyone else tried this method or found something that works better for old concrete?

Spend a full day vacuuming up that mess and wondering if your garage now smells like a giant litter box. My buddy tried that trick and ended up with tiny clay dust particles stuck in every crack for weeks. Honestly I just hit old stains with brake cleaner and a wire brush, way less sweeping involved. Kitty litter works but feels like a half step to me, like you're just pre-gaming the real cleaning. Save yourself the dust cloud and go straight for the harsh stuff.

Yeah @the_terry is right, brake cleaner just blasts through that stuff way faster than litter ever could.

Stick with the brake cleaner and wire brush like viola said, that stuff cuts through years of grime in minutes compared to waiting on cat litter. I've done both methods and the harsh chemicals just work faster with way less mess to clean up after. Just wear gloves and keep a fan blowing because that brake cleaner smell will knock you out.
