My hallway wallpaper refused to quit until I walked away

I decided to strip the wallpaper in my hallway, thinking it would be a one-day project with a rented steamer. After steaming a section and scraping for what felt like forever, I only managed to remove a few square feet. The adhesive was like cement, and I was getting nowhere fast. Out of sheer annoyance, I turned off the steamer and left it all overnight. When I came back the next morning, the paper peeled off in long, satisfying strips with almost no effort. That extra wait time let the moisture really sink in and break down the glue. Now I plan for at least a double session on any removal job, because rushing just makes a mess. Sometimes the best tool in DIY is just walking away and letting things sit.

That "walking away" trick works on old cars too, and not just cereal box advice like @chen.cole might think.

Wait, you just "read somewhere" and took that as gospel? What if it was on a cereal box?

That's the secret to most things that refuse to cooperate.
