Pro tip: My dad said to always cut crown molding upside down in the miter box

I argued with him for years, but after messing up three pieces on my living room project, I finally tried it his way and the joints fit perfectly on the first try. Anyone have a different trick for tricky inside corners?

Got to disagree, I've cut hundreds of feet of crown right side up with zero issues. Sounds like your miter box was off or your angles were wrong.
