Spent 3 hours trying to caulk a tub only to realize I was using the wrong kind of caulk the whole time

Turns out silicone-based caulk doesn't stick to wet surfaces as well as the acrylic stuff, and now I have to scrape it all off this weekend before I can even start over does anyone else just grab whatever tube is closest without checking the label first?

Has anyone else ever tried to patch up a dent in their drywall with spackle that was way too old and crumbly? I spent a whole afternoon smoothing out this bumpy mess, only to have it crack and fall off the next day... turns out expired spackle is basically just dust pretending to be useful. I ended up having to chip it all out with a putty knife and start fresh, which took twice as long as if I had just checked the date on the can first. It's always the simple things that get you, you know?

Did you try wetting the new stuff first? Worked for me.

Did you toss that old spackle or just shove it back in the garage for next time, @baker.holly?
