Appreciation post: I was dead wrong about Gorilla tape on a leaky hose

I always thought duct tape was duct tape, you know? But last week my garden hose split right at the connector, and I had nothing but a roll of Gorilla tape in the junk drawer. I wrapped it around 3 times, figuring it'd leak again in an hour. Nope - it's been 6 days of daily watering and it's still holding strong, no drips at all. The rubberized backing actually bonds to wet surfaces, which I never believed until I saw it. Has anyone else had a "this ain't gonna work" fix that surprised you?

Totally agree with you there... I used Gorilla tape on a cracked plastic watering can handle last summer, thought it would last maybe a day. Three months later and it's still holding together through all kinds of weather and abuse. Stuff seriously works way better than it has any right to for quick fixes like that.

Wait, isn't Gorilla Tape just really sticky duct tape though @moore.beth? I used it on a garden hose once and it was a sticky mess that peeled off after two days in the sun.
