Snapped a shoelace at the grocery store yesterday and used a twist tie from the produce section as a temp fix

I was halfway through loading my cart when my left lace broke while bending down for a bag of potatoes, so I grabbed a green twist tie off some kale and threaded it through the eyelets. Held up for the whole shopping trip and the drive home - 30 minutes total. Has anyone else used those twist ties for something unexpected?

Twist tie held my glasses together for two months before I got them fixed.

Bet you had people asking if you were trying to start a trend or something. Thats the kind of fix that works so well you almost forget its there until you touch your face and feel that little wire poking out. I did the same thing with a paperclip on my backpack zipper for about three weeks. Everyone thought I was being cheap but really I just kept putting off buying a new one. Funny how a temporary fix can turn into a lifestyle.

Twist tie held my glasses together for two months." Thats nothing. I had a pair of sneakers where the sole was flapping off and I just superglued it back on every couple of weeks. Lasted like six months before I finally tossed em. Felt like I was keeping that shoe on life support.
