My sign frame broke at the wrong moment during a city council meeting in Austin last Tuesday

I spent 3 hours on a coroplast sign with a really clever pun about the new development zone, but the wooden stakes I taped on gave out right when the mayor looked my way. Has anyone else had their materials fail at the worst possible time?

HOLD UP you used wooden stakes on a COROPLAST sign? Those need metal stakes or at LEAST PVC, wood is WAY too weak for that.

Ha, yeah you're probably RIGHT about the wooden stakes being weak. I figured I'd just use whatever was in the garage and uh... it did not go well. Let's just say my sign is now a bit lower to the ground than I planned.

Actually wood works fine if you prep it right. You just gotta sand the ends and use heavy duty staples instead of tape. Tape always fails in humidity.
