Picked a 10-foot mesh dish over a solid fiberglass one for my backyard build
Glad I went with the mesh because the wind almost took me off my ladder last week and that fiberglass would've been a sail, anyone else deal with wobble issues on a solid dish?

I gotta ask, did you brace the legs on that mesh dish extra or just stick with the standard ground mount? The wind loading is way different between mesh and solid, so curious if you had to reinforce anything. I've seen mesh dishes flex more in gusts but hear they shed wind better than fiberglass.

Did you ever see what happened to my buddy's mesh dish after a bad storm last year? He figured the standard mount would be fine cause mesh sheds wind better, but he didn't brace the legs at all... come to find out, the ground was soft from rain and the whole thing twisted sideways during a 50 mph gust. The dish itself was fine, but the mount bent like a soda can and he had to weld up a whole new frame with extra cross bracing.

Yeah I read something similar on a ham radio forum about mesh dishes actually needing stiffer mounts since the flex can cause weird resonance in high winds. Your buddy's case sounds like the ground gave out before the mount really had a chance to do its job.
