Three months ago I swapped my LNB and saw a jump in signal quality I didn't expect

I switched from an old standard LNB to a new PLL model on my 90cm dish aimed at 97W. The before picture was a lot of pixelation on weaker transponders, but after the swap I get solid signals even in light rain. Has anyone else noticed a big difference from just changing out the feedhorn? I'm curious what other hardware upgrades gave you a real gain.

I never really bought into the whole "better LNB makes a difference" thing until I tried a PLL model on my own setup. I swapped out a generic one from an old dish for a higher end model and suddenly channels that used to cut out in light rain were rock solid. It changed my mind completely, now I tell everyone to start with the feedhorn if they want real gains.

40 bucks for a PLL LNB when your dish is half an inch off alignment? Waste of money if you ask me. I bet you could have gotten the same result by just tightening the bolts on your mount and trimming a bush.

I read somewhere that PLL LNBs clean up the signal better than older models, makes sense you'd see fewer dropouts in rain.

Swapped out my old LNB last year after getting sick of losing signal during heavy rain, and the PLL model definitely tightened things up. Figured it was worth the money since it saved me from climbing up on the roof every time the weather turned bad. Honestly the difference was subtle at first but after a few storms I noticed way less dropouts than before.
