Warning: My LNB mount gave out during a storm last Tuesday
I had my dish aimed perfectly at 97W for weeks, getting a solid signal on all the free channels. Then a heavy rain came through and the cheap plastic LNB arm snapped clean off. I rigged up a temporary fix with a metal coat hanger and some zip ties, but the signal keeps drifting. Has anyone else had luck reinforcing these mounts before they fail?

Man, that's rough. I had the exact same thing happen with my 101W setup last spring, a gust of wind just ripped the whole plastic arm assembly right off the bracket. It's frustrating because you get everything dialed in perfect and then a little weather just ruins it all. I ended up replacing that whole LNB arm with a metal one from a old DirecTV dish I found at the dump, that thing is solid as a rock now. The coat hanger trick is clever but yeah, the signal drift will drive you crazy after a while, especially on the weaker transponders. Good luck with the fix, hopefully you can find a metal replacement part before the next storm rolls in.
