Heard a neighbor bragging about using a hidden camera to spy on his nanny in Phoenix

I was at my regular delivery stop last week, and this guy was on the phone loud enough for me to hear. He said he hid a tiny camera inside a teddy bear to watch his babysitter, but he didn't tell her about it. That rubbed me the wrong way because if you're not upfront, that's straight up illegal in most places. It made me rethink putting cameras in my own house for security, now I only use visible ones near my front door and garage. Has anyone else run into situations where a hidden cam crossed a line morally or legally?

You said it "rubbed you the wrong way" which is putting it lightly. Did you hear if he actually checked the laws in Arizona before bragging about that? I feel like most people don't realize consent laws get way stricter when there's an expectation of privacy like a bathroom or bedroom.

Okay but did anyone actually ask him about the research part or did he just skate by when people called him out? Because I've definitely met guys who hear one thing on a podcast and just run with it like it's gospel. Makes me wonder if he even knows what a "reasonable expectation of privacy" means in a legal sense, because that's usually the whole ballgame in places like bathrooms.

Wait, did he even bother to look up Arizona's actual laws before running his mouth? That's the part that gets me, people just assume stuff without checking. Privacy expectations change everything when it comes to consent, and bathrooms are pretty much the top of that list. I've heard of cases where recording someone in a private space got people in serious trouble even if they didn't share the footage. You think he's just bad at research or does he genuinely not care about the legal side of it?
