Tried hiding a pi cam in a fake rock, my neighbor's dog dug it up 3 hours later

Buried it in my front garden bed near the mailbox and that golden retriever from two doors down brought it straight to my porch like it was a chew toy. The lens was covered in slobber and the SD card got bent, anyone else’s pets wreck your gear?

Yeah but honestly I gotta push back a little here. Dogs are gonna dog, you know? I mean you buried a rock in your front garden bed near the mailbox which is basically prime sniffing territory for any dog in the neighborhood. That golden retriever probably thought you planted a new toy for him, not a camera. I've had my own run-ins with animals and electronics - a squirrel once chewed through a USB cable I had running to a trail cam - and at this point I just accept that if it's outside and reachable, something's gonna mess with it. Maybe try hiding it higher up or inside a less rock-shaped object next time, because dogs are pretty good at telling fake rocks from real ones, especially if it smells like plastic and human hands.

My buddy thought he was being clever hiding a game camera in a fake owl he put on his fence. A raccoon ripped the owl's head off and dragged the whole thing into the neighbor's yard. Animals just don't care about our plans.

Honestly, wait, a raccoon actually ripped the head off a fake owl? That's insane. I've seen those plastic owls at garden stores and they look pretty solid, like they're not going anywhere. But ngl, raccoons are basically tiny, furious bears with hands, so I guess I shouldn't be that surprised. That buddy must have been pretty mad when he saw the aftermath. Tbh, I'm almost impressed the raccoon had the strength to drag the whole thing somewhere else.
