Appreciation post: Saw a drafting table in a museum in Philly and it made me think

It was a full wooden setup from like the 1920s, with all the original lead holders and a parallel rule still attached. Made me realize how much quieter and slower the work must have been, just focusing on one line at a time. Anyone else get that feeling seeing old tools on display?

Used to think old tools were just outdated. Seeing that setup really makes you respect the focus it took.

Was that kind of single-minded focus a skill they had to learn, or did the tools just force it on them?

Guess they didn't have the option to just open 47 browser tabs for "research." Must have been nice.
