Had a senior drafter tell me my dimension lines were too faint to read on a set of plans

Turns out I was using a .18mm lead for all my fine detail work and it just didn't print well when they shrunk the sheets down to half size. Anyone else run into issues with line weights not showing up right after plotting?

Plot looks okay on screen but prints like garbage?

I read something from a print shop guy once who said screens hide problems that paper shows right away. He mentioned something about how most monitors have a brightness and contrast setting that just makes everything look way sharper than it actually is. The math checks out too because screens use light to show images while paper uses reflected light (huge difference). I had the same issue with a scatter plot last month until I started checking everything at 80% zoom with gridlines visible.

Honestly I've never had that problem and I print plots all the time. Maybe your printer settings are just off or the plot itself needs better resolution.
