I thought layer rules were dumb until they ruined my project

Skipping proper layer setup made my drawing a nightmare to fix. Don't be lazy with it, or you'll waste hours like I did.

What was the biggest headache to fix without layers?

Three hours deep in layer hell really makes you respect the rules, huh.

Honestly the real trap is getting stuck in the middle. Like you start with one layer for a sketch, then add a few for colors, then another for effects. Next thing you know you're sorting through twenty half-finished layers trying to find the one line you need to fix. It's not about having no rules or too many rules, it's about not having a clear plan before you start adding them. That messy middle ground is where the hours disappear.

Sometimes going wild with layers just kills the vibe, lol. I cranked out a whole comic page on one layer last week and it was way faster for me. Over-organizing can slow down the actual drawing part. For quick sketches or simple animation cleanup, a single layer keeps the workflow loose. It's more about what gets the job done without overthinking it.
