Overheard a guy at the print shop say all you need is AutoCAD 2020

I was picking up some plots yesterday and this dude was telling his buddy that if you're still on AutoCAD 2020, you're set and shouldn't bother upgrading. That's a wild take, man. The 2024 version has way better sheet set tools and the PDF import is actually usable now. What's the oldest version you all still run for real client work?

That "set and shouldn't bother" line got me. I'm stuck using 2020 at my office and it's a real pain. The sheet set manager is so clunky it costs me time every single day. The newer versions just handle xrefs and layouts better, no contest. Why make your own job harder?

It's like companies get stuck on old tools and just accept the daily friction lol.

Is it a company tradition to keep using the worst version of a program? Gotta love that daily dose of frustration for no reason.

Honestly though, is it really that big of a deal? People act like using an older version is some huge career killer. Tbh most of the time you can just get your work done and go home. The new features are nice but not worth losing sleep over. It's just software, not like the company is making you write everything by hand. Sometimes I think we just like to complain about our tools instead of just using them.
