PSA: I was wrong about that $300 drafting software add-on
I bought a specific tool for making custom title blocks in AutoCAD last year, thinking it would save me hours. For the first two months, I barely used it because the setup felt clunky. Then I got a job with 50 sheets that all needed unique client info and logos, and the tool did the whole batch in about 20 minutes. Has anyone found a better way to handle title blocks for big projects, or is this kind of add-on the only real fix?

Did the whole batch in about 20 minutes" sounds like you just got lucky with that one job. Most of the time you're fighting with the setup, so was it really worth three hundred bucks?

My buddy had a job like that, @jamesf29, and the setup fight took him two days for three hundred bucks.

Remember that time I spent four hours trying to get a stupid printer to talk to a laptop for a simple mail merge. Client paid a flat fee, so my profit was basically a fancy coffee by the end. Sometimes the tech just decides to fight you and there's no winning, only quitting for the night. Makes you really think about how you price those "quick" jobs.
