Stuck between manual drafting and BIM on an old job site

I was working on this reno project downtown last month and had to pick between pulling out my old drafting board or forcing the new BIM software on a crew that hates computers. I went with the board because the foreman said 'we don't have time for your fancy clicks.' Three days in I realized I spent 4 extra hours fixing scale errors on the plans. Has anyone else had to juggle old school methods with new tech on a tight deadline?

Exactly who's actually writing the final as-built documentation when this job wraps up? Used to be the old draftsmen owned that process but now the GC is going to hand the owner a set of marked up mylar sheets that look like a ransom note. The BIM model could've caught those scale errors before they even hit paper if someone taught the foreman how to click one button. Real question is whether the owner cares more about pretty plans or a building that doesn't leak.

Bet the foreman's not paying for those extra hours either huh.

@emmam89 totally changed my old school bias after that scale error mess.
