TIL buying a cheap laser level was a total waste of money
Honestly, I thought I was being smart saving $40 on a no-name laser level from Amazon. It lasted about 3 jobs before the精度 started drifting like crazy. I spent more time re-leveling my marks than actually drafting. Finally broke down and got a Bosch GLL 30 for about $120 at the local shop. Night and day difference. That cheap one just sits in my toolbox now as a paperweight. Has anyone else had luck with those brands you find at big box stores?

Man I feel this in my soul lmao. My cheap laser level ended up being a fancy cat toy after it started telling me my walls were at a 3 degree angle when they clearly weren't. I actually brought it back inside and used it to level a picture frame and it was off by half an inch over 5 feet. Now it just sits in the drawer next to the mismatched socks and expired coupons. The Bosch I picked up after that fiasco has been solid for two years with zero drift. Sometimes you just gotta learn the hard way that laser levels are not where you cut corners lol.

Man that Bosch GLL 30 is a beast, I swear by mine too. The cheap ones are just gambling with your time and sanity. Half the problem is the internal mechanism is so janky it can't hold a proper reference point after a few bumps. It's like they're designed for a single use and then you're supposed to toss 'em. At least you kept yours as a reminder not to cheap out again.

Fancy cat toy" is too generous, mine just sits there judging me every time I open the drawer.
