Warning: The new city hall plans in Portland have a major drafting error on the main elevation
I was reviewing the public display prints at the planning office last Thursday... and the north elevation shows a structural steel column running straight through a window mullion on the third floor. It's not just a line weight issue, the dimensions put the column center at 2 feet inside the glass line. Someone missed a clash detection step entirely. How does something that basic get past a final review? Has anyone else caught a glaring mistake in a big public project's final drawings?

Well, that's one way to get natural light in the structural members.

Reminds me of this old warehouse conversion I saw where they left a huge rusted I-beam exposed right through the living room. @the_olivia, it looked cool but I kept thinking about all the dust it would catch. They had a skylight cut right above it, so the sun would hit the rust all afternoon.

My old loft had that, used a microfiber duster on a pole every Sunday.
