Honestly, I used to fight the suction line on my cutterhead dredge for hours. Now I just check the impeller clearance first thing. Saved me a whole shift in Mobile last week.

Man, that reminds me of the time I spent a whole afternoon trying to get a pressure washer to prime. I was about ready to throw it in the dumpster. Turns out the O-ring on the inlet was just completely shredded, a two dollar part. Felt like a total genius for finally checking it, and also a total idiot for not checking it first.

Sometimes the fix is so cheap it feels like the universe is mocking you for the time wasted.

Pulled my lawnmower apart twice before checking the spark arrestor screen. Took me three hours of pulling the carburetor, cleaning jets, all that. The screen was just clogged with carbon, a five minute job with a wire brush. Felt like the biggest idiot in the world staring at that little piece of wire mesh.

So did you just keep trying to prime it over and over, hoping it would magically start working? I always get stuck in that loop, doing the same thing expecting a different result, when the real fix is to stop and actually look for the broken part. It's like my brain refuses to consider the simple answer first. That moment of finding the shredded O-ring must have been such a mix of relief and pure annoyance at yourself. Why do we always make it harder than it needs to be?
