My old foreman in Mobile told me to always keep a spare cutter motor on the barge
Honestly, I thought he was just being extra careful and wasting money. We were working a sand reclamation job last month when our main motor seized up completely. Ngl, having that spare on hand saved us about two days of downtime and maybe $8,000 in lost production. Has anyone else had a piece of advice they ignored that came back to bite them?

Nah, some advice is just paranoia.

Isn't it funny how the simplest advice is usually the hardest to follow? I mean, it's like we have to learn everything the hard way. I see this all the time with just normal stuff, like keeping a spare key or a basic first aid kit. You think it's overkill until you're locked out or bleeding. That old guy's experience was basically a shortcut he gave you, and you still had to take the long road to get it. Makes you wonder what else we're ignoring right now.

Yeah, took me way too long to figure that out.

Read that book "The Checklist Manifesto"? Totally changed my mind on simple stuff.
