My old foreman in Tampa always told me to grease the swing gear every 40 hours, not 50, and ignoring him cost me a $1200 bearing last month.

Honestly, who else has a piece of old-timer advice they ignored and then immediately regretted?

My uncle swore by changing oil at 3k miles, not 5k. Laughed it off until my last car started knocking.

My dad's 2005 Camry hit 300k miles on 3k oil changes. I used to call him paranoid, but now I do the same thing.

Feel that pain for sure. Learned the hard way with my own truck's air filter. Those old guys really do know their stuff.
