Post-Katrina job taught me to always check the cutter teeth first

Worked a canal near New Orleans back in 2018. Spent four hours digging before I realized the teeth were all worn flat. How do you guys check for wear without pulling the whole ladder up?

Reach down with a long screwdriver and feel for flat spots without pulling the ladder.

Nah, you'd still need to pull it to actually check properly lol.

Heard about this from a buddy who worked the same stretch. He would just run his hand down the cutter arm with the engine off, feeling for the flat edges. Said he could map which teeth were shot without even looking.
