Update: Found a bowling ball in the intake last week near Mobile

We were pulling up river silt near the old docks, and the pump started making this wild thumping sound (like a giant washing machine with a brick in it). Shut it down, opened the hatch, and there's a perfectly round, slightly scuffed bowling ball just sitting in the basket. My lead guy just looked at it and said, 'Looks like an eight-ten split to me.' Had to rig a chain fall to pull the thing out. Anyone else dredge up something that made absolutely no sense for the location?

Honestly, that beats the weirdest thing I've ever pulled out of a storm drain. Buddy of mine in sanitation once fished out a full, sealed jar of pickles from a main line. Like, who flushes that? Makes you wonder about the late-night decisions that lead to stuff like a bowling ball taking a river trip.

Totally get that. Pulled a full, working bicycle frame out of a drainage culvert once, not a single bolt on it. Just the bare metal frame, perfectly clean. Another time we pulled up a car door from the 80s, still had the mirror attached. The stuff that just walks into the water never stops being weird.

Man, that car door is wild. It makes you picture the whole story, like some epic roadside argument that ended with a door just sailing into the creek. The bike frame is super strange too, like how does something that big and complete just end up spotless in a pipe? It's those finds that stick with you, way more than the usual trash. You start building whole movies in your head about how they got there.
