I finally saved a corner bead with a hairdryer
Last week, I was taping a basement and the corner bead would not stay put. It kept sliding down because the wall was damp from recent rain. I was ready to call it quits when I spotted a hairdryer left by the homeowner. I blasted the wet spot for a couple minutes to dry it out. After that, the mud held the bead in place just fine. Now I always feel for moisture before I start on corners. It was a goofy fix but it got the job done.

wade250 has a point about checking for dampness first. I always run my hand down the wall before taping. A hairdryer works in a pinch, but a box fan does a better job if you have a bigger wet spot. Let it run for an hour and the mud will stick like it should.

Calling it a "genius life hack" is wild lol. People are acting like it's rocket science to dry a wall.

Man, my buddy tried that and the tape bubbled up like crazy.

Honestly why are we acting like this is some huge emergency fix. Checking for damp walls is like step one before mudding anything. The hairdryer thing is just common sense, not a genius life hack. People make it sound like you pulled off a miracle surgery.
