Showerthought: I thought those magnetic corner trowels were just a gimmick

My buddy in Denver lent me his Goldblatt 4 inch model last week for a tricky bathroom ceiling. I was shocked at how much cleaner the inside corners came out on the first pass, with way less buildup. What other tools did you guys think were nonsense until you actually gave them a shot?

Man, what about those laser levels? I totally wrote them off as overpriced toys for people who can't use a string line. Then I had to lay out a long tile pattern on a weird floor and a guy on site had one. Set it up in two seconds and had a perfect line the whole way. Felt like an idiot for fighting with chalk lines for so long lol.

So you're saying the laser was actually accurate over that whole distance? My old boss bought a cheap one years ago and the beam would drift almost an inch over twenty feet. Made it totally useless. What kind of floor were you working on that made the chalk line so hard to use?

Yeah, cheap ones are junk (learned that the hard way). The floor was this super textured concrete that just ate chalk.
