Spent a whole day on a single corner bead in an old house

I was working on a house built in the 1920s and the corner was so far out of plumb it was a joke. The framing was all hand cut and nothing was straight. I thought I could just muscle the bead into place, but that was a bad idea. It took me from 7 AM to almost 5 PM just to get that one corner right, shimming and cutting that metal bead piece by piece. Has anyone else had a corner fight them that hard in an old place?

My record is six hours on a single window trim in a 1908 bungalow. The house won that round, I just signed the peace treaty.

My buddy spent a whole day trying to level one door in his Victorian. The frame was so twisted he finally just shimmed it and called it character. Some fights you just can't win.

Old houses are a special kind of evil.

Used to think I could fix anything in my 1920s place with enough patience and YouTube tutorials. Then I spent a weekend trying to get one sash window to stay up and realized the whole frame is basically held together by 100 year old paint and hope. That changed my view real quick.
