The difference between mudding with a 6-inch knife vs a 10-inch knife
Used a 6-inch for 8 years, switched to a 10-inch last month on a job in Nashville. Took half the time on flat seams but made a mess on inside corners until I figured out the angle. Anyone else find a bigger knife changes your whole speed?

Buddy of mine tried the same switch on a job in Denver last fall. Said he spent the first day cussing at corners and wiping mud off his boots (literally, like, a glob landed right on his toe). By day two he was flying through flats though, so he figured the learning curve was worth it.

Tell him to keep his weight back on his heels through corners and let the boots slide a bit instead of fighting it. Once your ankles get used to the new flex pattern you won't even think about it.

Yeah, @jakeb81's buddy nailed it, that second-day payoff is the best part.
