Finally got my NZ passport after 8 years in the queue

I used to stress about renewing my US visa every 3 years, but now I just walk through e-gates in Auckland like it's nothing. The weirdest part is realizing I've stopped saying 'sorry' when I accidentally bump into people here too. Any other dual citizens find their mannerisms shifting with their passport use?

Have you noticed yourself picking up the accent too?

The third week I was in Ohio for work I caught myself calling it "pop" in a meeting and felt embarrassed. It really sneaks up on you. @the_drew is totally right that you don't notice it until you say something and it sounds wrong to your own ears. I think there's something about the rhythm of certain regions that just sticks in your head after enough time around it. Next thing you know you're saying "soda" like a Midwesterner and wondering when you switched teams.

Yeah I used to think the accent thing was overblown. I remember laughing at my cousin after she moved back from Texas sounding like she was about to say "y'all" every other word. But now I catch myself saying "ope" when I bump into things and I've started saying "pop" instead of soda. Its creeping in without me even realizing it. So yeah I get it now.
