Duct tape saved my camper shell last Tuesday.

I was hauling a load of scrap shingles to the dump in my truck and the fiberglass camper shell cracked clean across the back corner. Stuck a patch of gorilla tape over the split and it held for the whole 40 mile trip, no flapping or anything. Anyone else have a duct tape fix that lasted way longer than it should have?

Huh, I read somewhere that gorilla tape is basically the same stuff they use to patch helicopter blades in the field. Sounds like you got your money's worth out of that roll.

Guess @logan525 is who I'll call next time my camping chair breaks and I need a MILITARY-GRADE patch job.

Yeah that tracks with what I remember reading, @ben_lewis. I saw some military blog a few years back talking about how they use specific high grade tapes for quick field repairs on rotor blades and even fuel lines in a pinch. Not quite the same as hardware store gorilla tape but close enough. My buddy swore by it for patching a hole in his canoe last summer, said it held up for three full weekends before he finally got around to fiberglassing it right. Duct tape is basically the universal soldier of the hardware aisle.
