Just spent 6 hours duct taping a garden hose leak that I could have replaced in 10 minutes

I tried patching a pinhole spray in my backyard hose with 4 layers of duct tape, but it kept blowing out every time I turned the water on, and after a full afternoon of frustration I realized I should have just bought a $8 hose repair kit from the hardware store down the street - has anyone else fallen into this trap with temporary fixes?

My coworker Dave spent a whole Saturday trying to patch a leaky PVC pipe with electrical tape and hope. Water shot across his garage and soaked a box of old Christmas decorations before he gave up and bought a $3 coupling. Did he learn anything? Nope, he bragged about it at lunch.

Dave spent 11 hours on a $3 fix, that's a badge of honor.

... I mean is it really that big of a deal lol? You spent 6 hours learning a lesson about duct tape, big whoop. I've done way dumber stuff like using super glue on a cracked sprinkler head and then watching it explode in my face. It's not like you burned the house down or flooded the basement. Just buy the repair kit and move on, it's a garden hose lol.
