Lost a hundred bucks on a 'heavy duty' dryer vent kit that was basically tin foil
I got that flexi foil tube from the hardware store because it was way cheaper than the solid metal one. Within two weeks the tape I used to seal the joints started peeling off from the heat. Did anyone else find a duct tape that actually holds up on dryer vents or do I just need to suck it up and buy the metal pipe next time?

@willowg88 So you're saying the rigid pipe is worth it even with @thomas_sanchez's point about the clamps?

You tried the aluminum tape made for ducts? The silver stuff with the red liner, not the flimsy grey duct tape from the hardware aisle. Had the same problem with that cheap foil tube, the tape just crinkled and fell off after a couple heat cycles. Honestly, I gave up and spent the extra cash on the rigid metal pipe with the proper clamps. No leaks, no peeling, and it didn't collapse when I bumped it moving the dryer. Is there a reason you're trying to avoid going with the solid metal option?

Yeah, that "proper clamps" part is the real deal. The cheap tape just isn't built for heat and moisture like that. The rigid pipe is more work upfront but saves you a headache later.
