My coffee table leg snapped at a game night, but I refused to use wood glue
Last Saturday, six of us were crowded around my apartment in Austin playing Catan when someone leaned on the table and the front right leg just gave out. Everyone immediately said grab the wood glue or buy a new one. I grabbed a roll of gorilla duct tape from the kitchen drawer instead. Wrapped it around the break about 15 times, stacked some books underneath for support, and we finished the game. Three days later it's still holding, no wobble. Anyone else think wood glue is overrated for quick fixes?

Aw heck, I gotta stop you there. Wood glue ain't overrated for quick fixes, it's actually the right tool for that kind of break if you do it right. Duct tape works in a pinch but it'll loosen up over a few weeks, especially if you bump it moving stuff around. Me and my buddies fixed a chair leg same way once and it held for maybe a month before we had to redo it proper with glue and clamps.

Clamp time is definitely the make or break there.

Clamp time matters but only if you used enough glue first...
