Serious question, heard a homeowner say 'the breaker just trips faster now' after installing a bigger one
They swapped a 15-amp for a 30 to stop a nuisance trip on an old kitchen circuit. How do you guys explain the fire risk to people who don't get it?

Respectfully, I see it different. @aaron_perry the wire was already the weak link.

It trips faster because the wire is now the weak link.

The wire gauge in my old house is 14 gauge. Honestly, that's the standard for 15 amp circuits. If the breaker is tripping faster, it means the wire is getting hot way too quick. That's a serious fire risk, not just a weak link. Tbh that's how places burn down.
