A client in Omaha told me my solder joints looked like 'bird poop on a fence post' about 10 years ago.

So did you ever find out what made him say that? Like was it just messy work or was there a specific joint that set him off? I'd need to know if I was secretly the bird the whole time.

Honestly, just ask him like cole549 said.

Read an article once about how tech guys from that era had a whole secret language for bad soldering. Called it "bird's nest" work. Messy, chaotic, wires going everywhere. But "flying squirrel" is next level. That's a whole different tier of bad. Means the joints are probably loose, bridging stuff they shouldn't. Dangerous on old boards. That guy must have been a serious craftsman to use that term.

That's a pretty specific insult to remember a decade later. Must have been some truly spectacular solder work to earn that kind of poetry. At least it wasn't "squirrel droppings on a hot sidewalk," I guess.
