Just read that 70% of modern laptop failures are from liquid spills

I was looking at a repair data report from a big tech site yesterday, and that number really got me. It said most of the damage is to the keyboard and trackpad area first. I always thought screen cracks or battery issues were the top problems. Has anyone else seen this trend in their own repair work lately?

That 70% figure is wild but it tracks with my own laptop's history lol. I've personally killed two keyboards with coffee spills, the last one just last month. It's always that moment of pure panic when you see the liquid hit the keys. I guess we're all just one clumsy reach away from a very expensive mistake.

So @hugos46, what's your disaster move right after the spill? I have a friend who immediately flipped his laptop upside down like a pancake, which just sent the coffee deeper into the vents. My own dumb instinct is to grab a bunch of paper towels and start mashing the keys, which probably just pushes the liquid around. That slow-motion horror is so real.

My old roommate once tried to blow-dry a spilled beer off his keyboard. The smell of warm, hoppy electronics haunts me to this day. Some solutions are just worse than the original problem.
