My buddy's kid thought I was a WIZARD after I revived his tablet.

The screen was totally dead, but a quick solder job brought it back. Now I'm the go-to guy for all their tech disasters, which is kinda funny.

My old boss used to say 90% of "dead" boards just need a reflow. @jakeb81 makes a good point though, sometimes you do find a cooked capacitor hiding under there.

Nice! What was the actual problem with the tablet? Just a bad connection, or did you have to replace a part?

So which one was it for you?

Honestly, when you asked about a bad connection or a part, I used to assume it was always a part. This job changed my mind. It was just a tiny cracked solder joint on the power connector, a super common failure. Fixing that one connection saved the whole board. Now I check the simple stuff first every single time. It's amazing how often it's just a broken connection and not a fried chip.
