My foreman said my car top inspection was too fast to be thorough, so I started timing myself for a full 5 minutes.
I used to think I was just efficient, but he argued you can't spot hairline cracks in a sheave groove that quick. Anyone else set a timer or have a different check for that?

Yeah, a buddy of mine got called out for the same thing. He started using a bright pen light to slowly scan each groove, said it forces you to go slower and you catch way more.

Man, I gotta disagree. Relying on sight alone is how people miss obvious stuff right in front of them.
