Rant: A new guy on the job in Tampa told me my governor rope tension was off by a quarter inch and he was right.

I always eyeballed it, but after he showed me his gauge reading, I started checking every car with a tension meter first thing, so what's one small habit you changed after getting called out?

Mine was checking tire pressure with a gauge instead of just kicking the tires. A buddy saw me do it and laughed, said I was gonna ruin my tread. He was totally right, my pressure was way off. Now I use the gauge every single time, it takes two seconds.

Oh, come on, is checking tire pressure really worth all that effort? You pull out the gauge, pop the cap, press it on, wait for the reading, put the cap back on. Meanwhile the rest of us just give the tire a solid kick and call it a day. I mean, how much air are you really losing between the gas station and your driveway? It's like people make everything into a big science experiment these days. Not everything needs to be perfect down to the decimal point, you know?
