Showerthought: Catching a worn pulley before it seized up

I was doing a monthly service on a mid-rise lift. The guide pulley had a slight grind noise most would ignore. Took it apart and found the bearing was shot. Replaced it and avoided a full shutdown. Always listen for those odd sounds, folks.

My dad's old mechanic always said a strange sound is a warning you can't afford to ignore. Probably why I get nervous when my fridge hums a new tune.

My fridge started buzzing last month and the repair guy said it was a motor about to die. @the_ben is right about noises being a sign of trouble. I'm just glad I caught it before everything spoiled.

Read an article saying weird noises often mean something's about to go wrong.

Absolutely, @vera195's dad knew best about those warning sounds.
