Had a chat with a client that shifted my view on 'problem' skin
She's a teacher and said she's stopped calling her rosacea a 'flare-up' and started calling it a 'signal' from her body. That one word change from her made me totally rethink how I talk about sensitivity during consultations. Anyone else had a client reframe something that stuck with you?

Calling it a signal is nice but sometimes a flare-up is just a problem that needs fixing. My skin gets angry when I eat certain foods, and the signal is just to stop eating them. Reframing it doesn't change the fact it's a pain to deal with.

Used to see it as something to fight and win. Calling it a signal instead of a problem makes it about listening, which is a better goal. That teacher's word change really got me.

That shift in thinking is huge. For years I tried to out-muscle my own stress, which just made it worse. Now when I feel that tightness in my chest, I try to stop and ask what it's trying to tell me. Usually it means I've taken on too much or need a break. Listening to that signal has been way more useful than fighting it.
