Just realized my masking technique might be causing irritation...
I've been using clay masks with a brush for years, but lately, clients complain of redness... I think it's how thick I'm applying it, especially around the nose. Maybe letting it dry too much is the issue? Going to try a thinner layer and shorter time next week, and I'll report back.

Question if the mask itself is the real problem, not your technique. Thicker application might actually protect sensitive skin better by preventing it from drying too fast. Some skin types just can't handle clay at all, no matter how thin you spread it. That brush could be causing micro-scratches you aren't even seeing. Maybe you're using the wrong product for these clients entirely.

Think it's not that big a deal.

Thicker clay layers dry faster and pull more, actually.

Yeah I used to spread it super thin thinking that was better. But trying a thicker layer like Kelly said totally changed how I see it. It does pull more without being as harsh on the skin, which makes sean's point about the brush and technique really stick. Sometimes you just have to feel that difference to get it.
