Showerthought: That time a client argued against double cleansing
Had a woman in my chair for a facial in Portland last month who insisted her oil cleanser was 'stripping' and she only needed her foaming wash. She said, 'My skin feels tight, that means it's clean.' I explained the science for 10 minutes but she was firm. How do you handle clients who are convinced a core step is wrong for them?

Read a piece from a dermatologist blog that called the tight feeling after washing a sign of barrier damage, not cleanliness. It's a tough belief to break because it feels so true to people. Sometimes you just have to let them walk out with their routine and hope they come back later. They're paying for the service, not a lecture. You gave them the right info, and that's really all you can do.

It's like people who think a good workout means being sore for days, right?

But is it actually harmful?
