Struggling with whether to give diet tips to acne clients
I see a lot of clients with stubborn acne at my clinic. I think suggesting they cut back on dairy or sugar can really help, based on what I've seen. My boss says we should only talk about products and treatments to stay safe. I worry we're missing a big piece of the puzzle by ignoring food. But she points out that giving diet advice might be seen as going too far. What's your take? Do you think estheticians should step into diet talk or keep it to skin care?

So your boss wants you to just sell them the mop instead of telling them to maybe turn off the leaky faucet. Makes perfect sense. Guess you could always just whisper "maybe lay off the milkshakes" while applying the expensive serum.

What if diet changes don't actually help most people's acne?

Ugh, I totally get where you're coming from. I tried cutting out so many foods and it did nothing for my skin. It's maddening how people push diet as a cure-all for everyone. Our bodies just work differently, and what helps one person might do nothing for another. Honestly, it's a lot of trial and error to find what actually works for you.

Totally agree, diet changes didn't do much for my skin either. Focusing on a consistent skincare routine made a bigger difference. Also, handling stress can be a huge factor.
