Serious question, why is everyone so hot on those newfangled hoof stands?

I mean, after trying one for a bit, I went back to my trusty old tripod because it feels more stable and lets me adjust angles easier, idk maybe it's just me but.

Tried the new Beta Hoof Stand three different times and kept having the rubber feet slip on concrete. My 20 year old tripod has those screw-in metal spikes that actually dig in, plus it takes me half the time to get the angle locked in right.

My friend had that same rubber feet slip on concrete with his Beta stand. He was trying to film near a construction site, and the legs slowly slid apart every few minutes. Had to stop and reposition it three times before giving up and using his old one. Said it was like trying to balance a plate on a wet table.

My old tripod had those rubber feet and I never had a problem. But hearing about it sliding apart on concrete three times? That would drive me nuts. I get why people want the spikes now.

Maybe it's a user error thing and I'm just too clumsy? Sounds like @the_leo and I would both be better off with the old spiky kind.
