I picked cedar over pressure-treated for a 6-foot privacy fence in a wet part of town and the extra $300 was worth it.

The cedar has held up better against the constant damp and I haven't seen a single spot of rot after two full seasons, so what's your go-to wood for high-moisture areas?

Yeah, @shane_park92 gets it... pay more now, save later.

My uncle built a dock with that composite decking stuff, the kind with plastic and wood fibers mixed in. It's been in lake water for five years and still looks new, no warping at all. Yeah it costs more up front but you never have to stain or seal it. For something that's always wet, that's the only way I'd go now.

Unlike my warped deck, sadly.
