Remember that time my cousin painted his shed neon green? The old guy next door lost his mind, said it looked like a traffic cone and would lower property values. My cousin just laughed and planted some fast-growing bushes in front to block the view. Whole thing blew over in a month when the neighbor got a new dog to distract him.

Painting my back fence bright orange last summer brought out the same kind of drama, @jennifer_dixon. My neighbor hated it so much he actually painted his side gray in the middle of the night. Some folks just need something to fight about, I guess.

Oh that reminds me of my friend Carol's purple garage door, @lisacarter. Her neighbor left angry notes in her mailbox for weeks about it being an eyesore. Carol just ignored him and planted morning glories to climb up the side. The funny thing is, once the flowers bloomed, that same neighbor asked her what kind they were because he liked the color. It's like the fight itself was more important than the purple door.
