Shoutout to that time I messed up a fence line in Austin
I was putting in a 150 foot run of chain link near some big oak trees and didn't check for roots deep enough. Hit a gnarly one with the post hole digger and bent the whole thing sideways. Had to dig it out by hand for 3 hours in the Texas heat, then backfill with gravel instead of concrete. Anyone else ever wreck a tool on hidden roots?

Bent a shovel blade clean in half once thanks to a surprise root. At least you didn't snap the post hole digger handle off mid-swing like I did.

And it's funny how those little hidden surprises show up everywhere, not just in digging holes. You take a shortcut in the yard and a rock pops up, you rush through fixing the fence and a nail bends wrong. I think @troy_price found that out the hard way with that faceplant. It's like life waits until you're in a hurry to teach you to slow down and check for what's hidden.

Tbh I think surprises are what make things interesting, slowing down just means you miss the fun.

Tim rolled his ankle on a root and faceplanted into the mud.
